CS-Blog 5 Week 5

This is the final week for my CIS class. I've had to do a basic hardware quiz which was kind of difficult, I guess because the questions were kind of on the tricky side. In addition to that, I had to do a computer survey in which I was asked what kind of computer that I use, how much memory(RAM) is on it, how many hard disk is on it, and how many usb ports that are on my machine just to name a few. I think the survey was good because the information that was given in the survey is something that I could use to look at to see whether or not my laptop is running smooth or not. On the other hand, I was giving a random selection of final exam projects that I could choose from and I chose to do the scratch final exam project. I was required to create a magic eight ball game using the figures the teacher gave me and I also had the option of adding some additional effects to the game in which I did. I hope I did well on the project. Finally, to sum up everything, I think I've learned a bunch from this online class and I will continue to use the information that was taught to me throughout the rest of college and my career.

CS-Blog 4 Week 4

This past week’s assignments was dealing with Microsoft access in which I have to say probably half of the class struggled with because it was dealing with a new program from Microsoft. The first assignment dealing with Microsoft access required me to pull up my old CSV file in Microsoft excel and transfer it to the access table in Microsoft. After that I had to use the Query wizard to find duplicates in the state column, and then create a report for all of that information. The next assignment was dealing with Microsoft access as well. I had to add to my database, but I had to add a table relationship between the students and courses then make a report which required time and patients. Other than those assignments, I had to do a scratch assignment which was kind of fun it was basically an assignment that dealt with putting characters and items together and making plays with them. In addition to that I was required to make an interactive postcard using scratch as well which really wasn’t that hard at all. Finally, the class was required to read the first chapter of Blown to bits. This is a great book I know just by reading the first chapter. Without bits I don’t think we as individuals would be as far as we are in today’s life with technology. For example without bits it would take longer for people to receive our calls/emails etc., it would take longer for information to go into the computers, and finally hospitals wouldn’t be able to do some of the work they did without bits. In addition to that assignment, I was required to type my name using hexadecimal digits. Finally I think this past week’s assignments wasn’t as hard at all it just took a little bit of time which everything takes time and patients to master.

CS-Blog 3 WeeK 3

This past week's assignments was a little on the difficult side of things and took some time to do in a way. The one thing that took a little time to do was doing the mail merge. The reason I say that is because I had to sort of delete some information off of the original letter and then use the mailings tab on Microsoft word to start mail merge and put the new information onto the original letter into the right places. Thanks to the mailings tab on word it would have taken me a lot longer to do, but I figured out how to do everything smooth after a few practice runs and I completed the assignment and turned it in on time. Next is Microsoft Access, I hope it's not to difficult.

A few thing I've learned out of the Modules that we've covered so far...

One thing that I did learn was how to create a survey by using surveymonkey.com I think this website will be beneficial for me in the near future. Another thing that I've learned out of all the modules that we've covered so far in this class is how to use the countif function a little better on Microsoft Excel 2010. Without that function I don't know if I would have been able to complete my excel assignment as quickly as I did.

My 1st CS-1410 Blog Entry

Hello class. My name is Chad and this is my 1st blog of the CS-1410 summer session. I think blogging is a good thing in a way because if it's something important that you want all of your friends or the world to know then all you have to do is post a blog of what you want them to know.
